How To: Install Nokia Camera on any Lumia Device

At Nokia World 2013, Nokia released some really great apps along with great devices. Nokia Camera was also released there.  Nokia Camera combines features of Pro Cam and SmartCam into a single app. However it is released just to the phone with pureview(i.e. 9xx, 1020, 1520).  If you are already running Nokia’s Pro Cam and own a Pureview device, the changes come in the form of an update (version 4.2.2.8) which will switch everything over to Nokia Camera. As Nokia released this as an update too Pro Cam, so it will be officially available on just limited devices. Although it might come to other devices at a later stage.

I own a Lumia 720 and would love to try out this app on my phone but when i tried to search it i could not find it. Then tried “SysApp Pusher” and found that “This app is not available for your device.” so I was doomed. But then there is a proxy method to install such apps which i found on WPCentral Forums(This is a great website).

Let me list down the steps here:

  1. Connect to a WiFi network.
  2. Under Settings – WiFi, click on the WiFi network you are connected to.
  3. Switch ‘Proxy’ to on. Now type “103.13.29.118″ into “Server/URL”.
In “Port”, type in “8888″, then click on the tick at the bottom of the screen.
Switch to Store/ SysApp Pusher by pressing the windows key and then opening Store/ SysApp Pusher
  4. Go to the Store and click on ‘Nokia Collection’. Also you can go through the SysApp Pusher app if you are not find it in Nokia Collection.
  5. Find There Nokia Camera app, and tap on it to display its store site. If you see the download/update button, the proxy is working.
  6. Open WiFi settings(long pressing the back button), change proxy to off and then switch back to Store with opened Nokia Camera site and tap on download/update button.

If you don’t see Download/Update button even with this trick, just reboot your phone, try turning your WiFi on and off, and type Proxy data again. It will appear.

This method would work on all the Lumia Devices. It worked for me and should work for you too. If you face any issues just post a comment.
